Buying a can sealer for PET cans: what to look for
One machine for every size
A can sealer (also called a can sealing machine or can seamer) closes a PET can with an aluminium lid. Fill, put the lid on, press the button: a few seconds later you have a sealed can. Below is what to look at before you buy one.
Which can sealer suits your business?
For hospitality and takeaway one type does the job: an automatic countertop machine that seals about 1,000 cans per hour. Place the can in the mould, put the lid on top and press the button. The machine lifts the can, seams the lid and lowers it again. A few seconds per can, so you keep up at peak times.
Manual or semi-automatic sealers are cheaper, but need force and a steady hand. For daily use on the counter almost every business chooses an automatic machine.
What to look at
Look beyond the price. These are the things that matter in daily use.
Lid diameter
Our cans and lids use 55 mm (202 CDL). Every size from 150 to 500 ml has the same opening, so one range of lids covers your whole menu.
Moulds per size
Each can size has its own mould that centres the can. One mould comes free with every machine; extra sizes are ordered separately.
Speed
About 1,000 cans per hour is plenty for a café. More important than top speed is an identical seam every time.
Material and cleaning
Stainless steel, a removable turntable and a drip tray make daily cleaning a matter of minutes.
CE and food contact
Ask for the CE marking and conformity of cans and lids with EU 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011. We provide these documents on request.
Warranty and service
Two years factory warranty on parts and labour, plus phone and e-mail support for installation and seam adjustment.
Stock close to you
Cans and lids must be quick and affordable to reorder. We ship from Belgium, from a single box, usually within 2 to 4 working days in the Benelux.
Hermetic seal
The PRO is one of the few machines that seals the can 99% hermetically. Most other machines on the market reach 60 to 75%. That is why you can seal carbonated drinks with the PRO; with those other machines the fizz escapes.
Machine only or starter package?
Most newcomers choose a starter package: the automatic PRO can sealer, a free mould, two years warranty and stock to start right away.

Pro

Ultra
Machine + 1,800 cans + 1,800 lids + stickers with your logoView packageDelivery of a starter package is included in the Benelux. Outside the Benelux you only pay the difference in freight. Prices are on the product pages, always excl. VAT.
What does it cost per can?
Besides the machine you pay one can and one lid per drink. The larger the order, the lower the unit price: single box, pack per size or a full pallet with several sizes.
Because the cans are transparent, the drink is visible. That makes it easier to charge a bit more than for a cup.
See cans and pricesFrequently asked questions before buying
Can I seal carbonated drinks?
Yes. The PRO seals the can 99% hermetically, so carbonation is preserved. Most other can sealers only reach 60 to 75% and are therefore not suitable for fizzy drinks.
How much space does the can sealer take?
It is a countertop model that fits on a normal counter or workbench and runs on a standard 230 V socket.
Can I test before I buy?
Yes. Order a sample box with cans and lids to compare sizes. Want to see the machine in action? Contact us for a demonstration.
How fast will I receive my can sealer?
Machines are in stock in Belgium. Allow 2 to 6 working days in the Benelux depending on the carrier.
Can I seal hot drinks in PET cans?
No. PET cans are meant for cold drinks and products at room temperature, up to 40 °C.
What if I want another size later?
Simply order the matching mould. The machine and the lids stay the same.
Still deciding between the packages?
More than 500 cafés and bars across Europe work with the PetCan system. Call or e-mail us and we will think along. Or order a sample box first.
